    The Configuration Management/Release Engineer will work closely with Development, Quality Assurance, Web Content, and Infrastructure teams to define and implement procedures for releasing products throughout the whole product life cycle. Seeking a flexible, innovative Configuration Management and Release Engineer responsible for the following:
  • Define and coordinate configuration management and deployment processes to consistently deliver specified system to various environments
  • Take a leadership role in the creation and implementation of development standards in the areas of source and version control, and installation processes and methods.
  • Assess configuration requirements with system designers, developers, and administrator to efficiently and effectively meet needs of development, QA, partners, and production.
  • Develop and maintain automated build and deployment scripts.
  • Ensure proper archiving and audibility of product releases.
  • Controls branching and merging of the code base.
  • Assess tool sets needed for current and future CM needs.
  • Upgrade/maintain configuration management software (Octopus, software distribution tools, AD group policy)
  • Research and improve methods of production and processes based on industry standards
  • Scopes product infrastructure development efforts and develops products from requirements.
  • Participates in feasibility studies, provide directions to Team Leads on technical issues, and oversee multiple and concurrent projects.
  • Build and maintain current versioning database of hardware, firmware, and software in the development, QA, staging and production environments.
  • Build and maintain system images of order process and fulfillment development and test systems
  • Organize and chair change control meetings with business unit representation
  • Required Skills:
  • Configuration management and release engineering experience as an individual contributor 3 + years in the configuration management field
  • Strong experience working with VSS or equivalent version control systems is essential
  • Experience working with CM tools such as Perl, Shell scripts, Installshield, makefiles, Wise or gmake
  • Expertise automating the build and release process
  • Knowledge of Active Directory group policy, Octopus, Epigraph a plus
  • Must have working knowledge of networking, enterprise distributed application environments, UNIX, NT, and database administration and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet commitments
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong orientation to detail
  • Knowledge of application development standards, tools, and utilities required,
  • Experience with C++ and VB, C# helpful
  • Extensive work experience with development process and integration of QA process
  • Work as a key contributor in a cohesive and highly productive team
    EDUCATION: BS in computer science, electrical engineering, math, physics or equivalent
