Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
Manage, plan, coordinate, and develop clear configuration management processes that support the needs of our hardware/software developers and manufacturing support organization for new product development and for the sustaining of our products currently in manufacturing.
Build current and future team based CM processes and integrated tools that have organizational wide support with the development teams
Promote and accomplish changes that improve reporting, tracking of CM project status
Build best practice CM plans, processes, templates, policies, procedures (such as master CM plans, CM project plans, build plans, change plans, …) that are reusable on multiple projects
Construct and train CM staff and developers in the use of CM processes, tools, and automated software builds.
Facilitate the proper coordination of our Production Change Control and Engineering Change Control boards
Design and build hardware and software development defined and CM approved build processes and environments
Educate and enlist user support and buy-in into how CM can make their work life easier
Develop a plan for clear and concise communication to stakeholders regarding progress, issues resolved, status, and customer satisfaction metrics
Manage projects using PLC project management methods within CM that deliver value to our users and keeping up to date with projects that CM supports – communicate project status internally – using existing conform to practices
Provide users with timely responses to questions, issues, setup, configuration, and training and incorporate customer feedback
Build and maintain an integrated documentation and production control drawing environment.

Required Skills:
Know good CM processes and tools
Familiar with CMM levels and how to assess these levels relative to what our organization can and should do
Understand the CM interfaces between Project management, 3rd parties, quality, test, and development throughout the life cycle from requirements through launch and sustaining
Bachelors degree in Computer Science along with an understanding of the software development process including the newer iterative, agile methods and have spent at least 3 years developing software in CM environment
Multiple CM platforms in a commercial environment including Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Unix
Product development background, not just IT for instance
Familiarity with Open Source licensing and release process
Familiarity with tools such as gmake, ANT, Perl and shell scripting, CVS, VSS, Harvest, Stellent, Devtrak
Familiarity with drawing control systems and document control system
Familiarity with publishing and maintaining a CM website
