  • Job Description:
  • Working within our custom software engineering project team of architects, business analysts, developers and testers, the ideal Configuration Manager / Rational Tools Specialist would have deep experience with the full suite of Rational tools and have specific experience with ClearCase, having configured it with ClearQuest, RequisitePro, and TestManager. Experience with Unified Change Management (UCM) is strongly preferred. S/he would be responsible for:
  • Control change to, and maintain the integrity of, a project's artifacts.
  • Identify configuration items, restrict changes to those items, audit changes made to those items, and define and manage configurations of those items throughout the software development process
  • Manage the setup and maintenance of the suite of Rational tools including ClearCase, ClearQuest, RequisitePro, TestManager, etc.
  • Use the Rational Suite to trace defects, requirements and test cases.
  • Liaison between team and QA, helping to track defects and build issues.
  • Create weekly builds and manage development/QA/Production promotions.
  • Ensure that right versions of configuration items are selected for change or implementation.
  • Develop Build/Release Strategy and CM plan.
  • Version Control.
  • Versioning scheme and labeling definition.
  • Definition and enforcement of check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Process management.
  • Team mentoring and training.
  • Required Skills:
  • As a Consultant you will be required to have constant interaction with our clients, and therefore excellent oral and written skills are a must. Other requirements include:
  • Administration of ClearCase for 2-3 years min.
  • Strong ClearQuest and UCM experience is required.
  • CM process development and enforcement (3 years minimum).
  • Experience in at least 2, preferably more, large software projects (8 people or more).
  • Solid understanding of and experience with other Rational tools such as RequisitePro, TestManager, Rational Project Console, Rose, etc.
  • Strong Perl scripting preferred.
  • Experience with Backup/recovery process
